The instant New York Times bestseller that BookTok is calling “absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G” (@hollylovesbooks1519) and “impossible to put down” (@kurryreads), from the author of Local Woman Missing and Just the Nicest Couple

Everyone has secrets, but not everyone has remorse…

A terrible accident.

Meghan Michaels is trying to find balance between being a single mom and working full time as an ICU nurse, when a patient named Caitlin arrives in her ward with a traumatic brain injury. They say she jumped from a bridge and plunged over twenty feet to the train tracks below.

A shocking revelation.

When a witness comes forward with new details about Caitlin’s fall, it calls everything they know into question. Was a crime committed? Did someone actually push Caitlin, and if so, who... and why?

No one is safe.

Meghan lets herself get close to Caitlin until she’s deeply entangled in the mystery surrounding her. Only when it’s too late, does she realize that she and her daughter could be the next victims...

“A tense, compelling thriller with completely gasp-worthy twists.” —Nita Prose, #1 bestselling author of The Maid

Could not put it down! The twists kept me guessing right to the very end. I highly recommend this book!
  • Good, not great.

The book was interesting enough that I wanted to finish it, but I think the plot was too ambitious and ended up just being messy, along with requiring the reader to suspend your disbelief to enjoy the story. Some of the misdirects were very heavy-handed, and the writing is way too wordy. I found myself wanting to skip over descriptions that were entirely too long. If you're looking for a casual read that has some fun twists, this isn't a terrible choice. It was still a fun read, despite my gripes with it.

This was a great book. So many twists and turns, my head was spinning. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, there’s another plot twist. Definitely recommend.

I got such an Erie feeling while reading. It felt like I was watching movie although I was reading it. The author does a good job of really making you feel things as you read. I was able to envision everything. Love the character development and overall storyline. So many twist and turns ! I couldn’t put this book down !!!! I fell asleep with the phone in my hand reading this.

The plot is unbelievable. The book reaches for something it didn’t achieve.

An interesting story with lots of surprises and twists, but far too many words that I found myself skipping over. The ending was too ambiguous and implausible.
  • Just ok.

The anxiety and paranoia of the main character is a little contagious and made me feel a weird darkness! Which was FINE!! BUT…SO MUCH of this book was repetitive and Part 2 was both drawn out and rushed somehow. I skipped over MULTIPLE pages especially in Part 2. I finished in about 2 days because I needed to k ow what happened but also because I was annoyed with so much. ALSO, really bothered by all the typos. Most of any book I’ve read in a long time!
